    Hyaluronic acid for the face.

It's no secret that the main component of the human body is water, in which various water-soluble substances are dissolved. In fact, our body consists of aqueous colloidal solutions.

Research by scientists about 50 years ago forced cosmetologists and dermatologists to take a fresh look at the role of fluid in the body, and on its effect on the appearance of human skin. And, above all, on the condition of the skin of the face: youth, elasticity, the strength and resistance of the facial skin to stress and stress.

That is why, when it comes to the condition of the facial skin, in recent years so much and often talk about hyaluronic acid face . But not all users of cosmetics clearly understand what it is - hyaluronic acid , where it comes from, “what it is eaten with”, and why is it so useful hyaluronic acid for the skin?

    Let's figure it out.

But you will have to start a little from afar.

Normally, 100-200 ml of water evaporates from the skin of a person of normal constitution (including through the skin of the face). This amount does not include the possible secretion of sweat through the sweat glands. Evaporation occurs directly through the stratum corneum.

Moisture loss occurs much faster when:

    • age-related changes,
    • damage to the lipid layer of the stratum corneum,
    • UV damage,
    • poor quality care and
    • exposure to stress,

resulting in increased dehydration and dryness of the face. At the same time, biological processes are disrupted not only in the upper layers of the skin, but also in the dermis.

In the dermal layer of the skin, as a result of its dryness, the quality and the amount of glycosaminoglycan water decreases. gel, damaged collagen fibers accumulate, elastin becomes thinner, which leads to an even greater loss of moisture. The process of premature aging of the skin starts! The skin begins to sag, loses its elasticity, and wrinkles appear on the face.

In simplified terms, the dermal layer of the facial skin (skin itself) resembles a combination of a “water and spring mattress”, where the role of "springs" is played by collagen and fibers elastin , and the entire space between these “spring” fibers is filled with an aqueous gel consisting of glycosaminoglycans (mucopolysaccharides).

    And then everything is simple!

Remember what happens to an ordinary mattress if its springs break or weaken from time and load, or the filling of the mattress becomes thinner and changes its quality (crumbles)? Right! In the mattress, voids and dips appear, it loses its original elasticity, and often its appearance.

Practically, exactly this example can be attributed to our skin , in general, and to the skin of the face, in particular.

This reduces the ability of the glycosaminoglycan gel to retain moisture (by reducing the amount and concentration of hyaluronic acid). As a result, the skin of the face begins to lose elasticity, stretch and sag under the influence of gravity. "Excess" skin forms on the face, large folds, for example - nasolabial wrinkles, the area around the eyes, skin areas in the neck.

As a result of oxidative stress of the skin (UV- radiation, poor quality care, ecology, malnutrition, diseases, etc.) some of the moisture from the glycosaminoglycan gel rises to the superficial (drier) layers of the facial skin and evaporates.

Under oxidative stress, also the lipid layer of the stratum corneum (protective layer of the skin) is damaged, which leads to even greater evaporation of moisture!

When fluid is lost by the upper layers of the skin, intense evaporation of moisture from the inner layers of the dermis occurs (its "pulling up" from the depths of the dermis). This leads to even more dry skin. The circle is closed!

This triggers a self-sustaining process of dehydration (drying) of the entire matrix, and, as a result, intensive aging of the facial skin and the formation of wrinkles.

It is for this reason that the cherished dream and the most urgent task of cosmetology has been and remains:

    • to preserve the youthfulness of water supply and water saving systems for the skin;
    • find a way to influence the qualitative and quantitative composition (replenishment and renewal) of the glycosaminoglycan matrix in the skin.
