Granular, anhydrous calcium nitrate is used as an additive in concrete, as a fertilizer, for the preparation of brine in refrigeration equipment, in the production of reagents, fiberglass, and also as one of the components for the production of explosives. Calcium nitrate is a physiological alkaline fertilizer suitable for all soils and especially for acidified soils.
In agriculture, it is used as a nitrogen fertilizer. Available in granular form; a commercial product must contain at least 15.5% nitrogen, in addition, 4-7% ammonium nitrate is added to it during the production process to reduce the hygroscopicity of the fertilizer; the moisture content should not exceed 15%. Calcium nitrate is applied for all crops.
Most effective on acidic soils,
