Composition and properties
The active substance of the drug is chlorhexidine bigluconate. Distilled water acts as an additional component.
The drug is available in 100 ml polymer bottles with a special nozzle.
Pharmacological action of chlorhexidine: the drug has a broad spectrum of action against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and fungi. Chlorhexidine has a higher rate of destruction of microbes and bacteria than other drugs with an antimicrobial effect - it can kill almost 100% of bacteria in just 30 seconds.
The bactericidal and bacteriostatic mechanism of action of the solution depends on its concentration. When chlorhexidine interacts with the bacterial cell membrane, the lipoprotein membrane of the bacterium is disaggregated, as well as the destruction of the cytoplasmic membrane. Due to the imbalance of osmosis and the loss of potassium and phosphorus, the bacterium dies.
Such strains of bacteria and protozoa as bacteroids, Trichomonas, gardnerella, gonococcus, chlamydia, ureoplasma and spirochetes are sensitive to the action of chlorhexidine solution.
In relation to viruses and fungi, the effectiveness of the drug has not been clinically proven.
Chlorhexidine solution should be stored at room temperature in a dark place, out of direct sunlight. The shelf life of the drug is 3 years.
