Maleinic anhydride of ÷
Maleic anhydride is a solid substance with a pungent odor, consisting of colorless rhombic crystals.
Limitedly soluble in acetone, benzene, xylene, toluene, chloroform, ethyl acetate. Other names: maleic acid anhydride, 2,5-furandione.
Chemical formula: C4H2O3. Maleic Anhydride (MA) is a multifunctional base chemical that is used in virtually all industrial chemical industries. In particular, about 57% of the world production of MA is used to obtain unsaturated polyester resins.
It is also used for the synthesis of fumaric and malic acids, succinic acid, tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, sugar substitute - aspartame, plant growth regulators, defoliants , fungicides, insecticides, as a modifier of alkyd resins. MA is also used in the production of vinyl copolymers, which are used in such areas as the production of technical thermoplastics, emulsifiers, protective colloids, dispersants, stabilizers, adhesives, detergents and cosmetics, sizing agents.
Maleic anhydride is used as a raw component in the production of epoxy resin hardeners, scale inhibitors, food additives (acidifiers, in particular, tartaric acid), plasticizers, adhesives, active ingredients of medicines.
In addition, MA is used as an additive to lubricating oils ... Adding MA to paints and varnishes shortens their drying time and improves the quality of coatings.
