Urea those, brand á
Urea (carbamide) is a chemical compound, carbonic acid diamide.
White crystals, soluble in polar solvents (water, ethanol, liquid ammonia). Odorless colorless crystals. Urea is readily soluble in polar solvents (water, liquid ammonia and sulphurous anhydride), with a decrease in the polarity of the solvent, the solubility decreases, it is insoluble in non-polar solvents (alkanes, chloroform).
Urea is a large-scale product used mainly in as a nitrogen fertilizer (nitrogen content 46%) and is produced, as such, in a caking-resistant granular form. Another important industrial application of urea is the synthesis of urea-aldehyde (primarily urea-formaldehyde) resins, widely used as adhesives in the fibreboard and furniture industry.
Urea derivatives are effective herbicides. Urea is also used to remove nitrogen oxides from flue gases from thermal power plants, boilers, incinerators, internal combustion engines, etc. Urea is registered as a food additive E927b. It is used, in particular, in the production of chewing gum.
