Sulfate of copper of sterns. 2833250000
COPPER SULFATE , a chemical compound that exists in two forms.
Anhydrous sulfate, Cu2SO4, is a light gray powder that instantly reacts with moisture contained in the atmosphere, and turns into pentahydrate sulfate, which has the form of bright blue crystals of copper sulfate, CuSO4.5H2O, used for copper plating, to prevent wood from decay, and to kill algae in ponds.
When dehydrated it turns into a colorless anhydrous salt of CuSO4, which readily absorbs water, thus acquiring a blue color. Due to this property, it is used as a desiccant, as well as a moisture indicator.
