Designed for laboratory studies of water samples.
The Snellen cylinder is a tall and narrow vessel with a flat bottom, with a measuring scale on the side surface. On the wall of the cylinder, in its lower part, there is a thin outlet tube for draining water. A tube with a clamp is put on the branch tube during the study.
A Snellen cylinder is used to study the transparency of water. The sample is poured into a cylinder and the filled vessel is raised 40 mm above the horizontal Snellen sheet. Looking at the font, the technician drains the water through the drain tube. The lower the column of water through which the font is clearly visible, the less transparent the water. There are norms regulating the transparency of drinking, tap and other water.
